Oh hey there you gorgeous human you!
Hi friends and welcome! I’m truly grateful you are here and hope that you know you matter and are loved. I’m Jennifer George, Editor-in-Chief of The Midlife Millennial blog and corresponding social channels. The Midlife Millennial focuses on inspiring and empowering you, touching on a variety of topics across accessible outfits and aspirational fashion, holistic wellness, DIY projects, food (all the food), with personal stories tied in.
The Origin Story
My love of fashion and writing started when I was a child. I dreamed of being a fashion designer and writer for Cosmo and Vogue; so much so, I always (and still do) carry pen and paper with me to sketch or jot down ideas and revelations – to capture the moments that inspire me.
As an only child, I used to “borrow” my mother’s magazines and clip out images, using those to predict trends and create lifestyle mood boards. I’d also play with her makeup, trying different looks, and find new ways to update my parents and great grandparents’ vintage accessories, designer pieces, and 80s graphic t’s.
This blog started as a creative outlet. I am deeply spiritual and believe we’re all here for a purpose, with the foundation of discovering that purpose being our individual self-discovery and self-love journey. While I don’t know my exact purpose yet, I believe a component of it is sharing my passion for storytelling and writing to inspire, empower, and connect.
A few more details
I am a Black and Filipino woman raised in Ohio and have lived in several states since, though I now call Seattle home. I am an only child and grew up exposed to a variety of cultures and languages, all of which shaped my passion for learning and living a solo lifestyle. A solo lifestyle doesn’t mean a single one: It’s about self-reliance, confidence, and being unapologetically you.
While I am very much an introvert, I have extroverted tendencies. I studied Psychology and Economics Management in undergrad; I have a Master of Science in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and a second graduate degree in Strategic Marketing and Communication. My career has been on the corporate side of retail and fashion, working for several large, well-known global brands, with positions ranging from Brand Management to Marketing Strategist and Internal/External Communication.
When I’m not blogging or attempting to take a decent mirror selfie, I’m quite basic in my activities! I enjoy eating all the food and trying new wines – with many adventures being shared on this website, being somewhat obsessed with my Peloton bike, solo traveling (pre-COVID), shopping, tv binges, reading, and hanging with my dog Luna.
I’m so grateful that you are here and excited to connect, empower, and grow with you! Thank you for stopping by and make sure to follow me on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/themidlifemillennial/
