Top 3 Must-Listen to Podcasts: November Edition

A 2 to 3 minute read on exactly what the title says

Hello, loves, and happy November! It’s hard to believe it’s already November but I’m also not sad about it either. This year has been something, and I welcome 2021 with open arms. Hopefully, I don’t have to retract that statement after seeing how things shake out post-November 3…

One reason I enjoy podcasts is they provide an escape, even if just for a short while. There’s a topic for just about everyone whether you want to learn something new, study up on industry trends, seek dating advice, or play detective with the likes of Unsolved Mysteries and other true crime shows.

Here are a few of my current favorites for November.

Retail Gets Real

Image from the NRF website
  • Overview: Retail Gets Real is produced by the National Retail Federation (NRF). As written on the podcast website, “Retail impacts everyone, every day, everywhere NRF’s podcast features unfiltered, insightful conversations with the industry’s most interesting people. Hear retail executives, industry experts, entrepreneurs, and influencers discuss trends, their career stories, and the future of retail.”
  • Why it’s Worth Checking Out: Simply put, it’s an excellent way to educate yourself on all things retail such as consumer insights, how COVID-19 is forcing the industry to evolve, how brands are creating shopping experiences in a virtual environment, etc. As a person whose career has been in retail both in-stores and now on the corporate side, it’s a must-listen-to remain informed and inspired.
  • Must-Listen to Episode: A few most recent include COVID-19 retail trends that are here to stay, International retail trends to watch in 2020, Sephora’s winning customer experience formula

U Up?

Image from the apple podcast preview website
  • Overview: As written on the apple podcasts preview website, “U Up? is the definitive modern dating podcast presented by Betches co-founder Jordana Abraham and comedian Jared Freid, where they discuss their take on the ebbs and flows of the crazy dating world we live in. From interpreting dating app interactions and weird sexual encounters, to defining the relationship and everything in between – they’re here to make sure you don’t die alone.”
  • Why it’s Worth Checking Out: Aside from being hilarious and brutally honest, it’s simply a highly entertaining and informative podcast on all things dating. From ghosting to how to tell someone you’re interested in them, how to talk to your significant other about erectile dysfunction, and why someone keeps texting you but doesn’t commit to making a plan to go on a date. Dating sucks. It was hard pre-COVID, and now even harder especially given our options of meeting someone are pretty much to rely on dating apps which I personally think are the work of the devil because they are just awful in every way, shape, and form.
  • Must-Listen to Episode: Frankly, there are way too many to choose from. Just check it out. Choose your own adventure. It’s worth it!

Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel

Image from the apple podcast preview website
  • Overview: As written on the apple podcast preview website, “Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel – [is] a show where LinkedIn’s Jessi Hempel explores the changing nature of work, and how that work is changing us. What does work mean to us? Should we love what we do? How can we switch it up? Join Jessi as she talks with guests to unearth lessons that apply to our own careers.”
  • Why it’s Worth Checking Out: When I was actually going to an office for work, I generally started my Monday morning public transportation commute listening to this podcast. It’s just refreshing and easy to digest. It’s helpful from a personal and career growth perspective to hear various topics from voices in different industries and career fields outside of my own.
  • Must-Listen to Episode: This is a good one to choose your own adventure meaning, take a look at the episode list and pick a topic of interest. Two of my favorite episodes currently are Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella wants you to become a ‘learn it all’ along with When to be Quick, When to be Wise.

Listen to it here or through your podcast app on your phone.
