Holiday Decor DIY: Apothecary Snowscape

A very short guide on a family-friendly holiday decor project.

Hi, it’s me.

No long backstory! Here is a super simple and quick DIY project, perfect for the whole family (note: while supervised and please be mindful of pets around these components)! There are various iterations of this floating around, but this is my take. What I love about this particular project is 1. You can customize it with both the pieces you choose to feature and the what you use as your vessel, be it an apothecary, mason jar, etc. 2. You can repurpose these components post-holiday.

Supplies

  • Epsom salt: I chose one that is lightly scented as it provides a great hint of fragrance when you’re near it and it’s one that I’ll use in a relaxing bath once the holidays are over
  • Apothecary jar (choose your own adventure here)
  • Mini trees (again, choose what you like!)
  • Newspaper or something to place underneath to catch any mess and make cleanup that much easier
  • Wire cutters: you’ll only need these if you choose the mini trees I used though you could also bend the wire pending the size of the jar/vase used and amount of Epsom salt
  • Additional insert ideas: pine cones (jazz them up with a little glitter), battery-operated candle, ornaments, mini figurines, etc.

Instructions

I could drag this out over multiple paragraphs, but I won’t! Here are the 3 steps:

  • Step 1: pour as much Epsom salt into the containers you chose
  • Step 2: add in the decor of your choosing
  • Step 3: admire your work!

Here’s the step-by-step video showing how I created mine.

I want to see how you made this your own (or just did exactly what I did which is perfectly fine as that’s why I posted it)! If you made it, share in the comments or head over to Instagram and comment on the corresponding post or tag me in your posts/Reels.

Happy Holiday Crafting!
