My top style picks for fall 2020 as seen on the runways (5 minute read)
I may have been born in the spring, but my soul connects with the fall. Compared to other seasons, there’s just something that enhances my sense of wonder this time of year. Between the leaves changing from shades of green to yellow to fiery red, the cooler temperatures, apple cider, pumpkin patches, and of course, the fashion!
Fall in the Midwest
Growing up in the Midwest, I’ve come to associate fall with football season. My hometown views football as a religion; my schools even offered courses to parents and students just to learn everything football like the various calls and plays! Likewise, Friday nights in high school consisted of cheering on the football team (yup, I was captain of our cheerleading squad), then heading to someone’s home or cabin in the woods, sitting around a bonfire, drinking Boone’s Farm (sorry parents!), and listening to the likes of Dave Matthews Band or someone playing acoustic guitar singing a rendition of Freebird.
While the feelings those memories evoke still bring a smile to my face and sports are regularly on my tv, fall has evolved to be a time of transition, a time to reset and focus on what I will achieve for the remainder of the year. But most importantly, transitioning my wardrobe to all things fall.
From the Runway to Your Closet
Fall 2020 fashion week did not disappoint! In particular, it’s not about something groundbreaking but rather an evolution of the classics, translated in a way that allows everyday individuals like you and me to really make it our own.
Recently, I talked about colors, so now let’s focus on some of my fave trends from the runway.

Do you remember the cult classic movie starring a young Christina Applegate called, Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead? This was a favorite of mine and embolden my desire for a career in fashion. Seeing this look on the runways instantly reminded me of this movie.
A twist on leveling up the tailored look that is feminine yet says, “I’m a boss”. Bonus: A cropped blazer reminiscent of the 90s style is a must with this trend.
