A fast read on exactly what the title says.
Today’s DIY post focuses on an easy, super glittery and glam hoop wreath.
I could give you a super long, whimsical introductory backstory about something holiday related, but I’m not because that not the point of this tutorial! So, let’s get to it.
Before we dive into things, please use this as a guide only. This is versatile enough to truly make your own. Choose your own adventure!
Supplies
- Wooden embroidery hoop (I used a 14”)
- Wire (I used 22 gauge)
- Wire cutter (action pliers)
- Ribbon (to hang…use what you like!)
- Decorative items: This is the choose your own adventure part, use what you like! For the purpose of this tutorial, I used gold leaves, gold twigs, white glittery pine bundles, gold sparkly poinsettias, and champagne pom pom picks.
- Substitution: Hot glue gun (depending upon what you use to decorate the wreath/if you prefer to use this over wire)
How to make a glitz and glam hoop wreath
Before you get started, I recommend – particularly if you are not a visual person – placing the decorative items where you want them placed on the wreath. That way you have a direction to start and know where you’re heading. That will also allow you to cut the decorative pieces to the desired length first along with wire (if you’re using wire to attach).
After you’ve set up your workspace with all your supplies ready to go:
Step 1
Take one stem of your base floral (white bushel for me) and attach to one side of the wooden hoop (angle it upwards) with wire (or hot glue pieces down). Repeat this step until you’ve reached your desired look; make sure to fan the pieces out like the image below. Don’t worry, any wire showing on the front of your wreath can be covered! You’re just laying the foundation in this step.
Step 2
Fill in remainder of pine with gold leaves, twigs, and pom poms until you’ve reached your preferred level of fullness.
Step 3
Use wire or hot glue to attach the poinsettia(s) at the center of the bundle.
Step 4
Cut a piece of ribbon and tie it to the top of the hoop and hang.
